Artist Statement
(Kamloops Art Gallery"Sept/06).
I believe that Artists are storytellers. My paintings tell stories about people, animals & nature, but also about me & how I view the world. Wisdom, dignity, life, love & family values are important themes for me. While I am “well known for my sensitive animal portraits”
I am also attracted to 1st Nations & other portraits. The evidence of a life well lived, to be found in a mature face, is very compelling subject matter for me.

On Teaching
A Passion For Art & Teaching
Chilliwack Museum, Kamloops Art Gallery, Arts Council of Kamloops, ArtStarts, Children's Arts Festivals, Shuswap Festival of the Arts & numerous public & private school groups. I am proud to say that many of my students have been invited to attend Young Artists' Conferences, including one student with no hands. I have been teaching for over 15 years.
My most memorable moment as a Teacher (so far!) came when I was working with a group from Kamloops Christian School at Kamloops Art Gallery, during the Tony Onley Exhibit. My style of teaching is to coach individually, so, as I made my way around the room, I became aware of a young boy that I'd already spent some time with. He raised his hand, & then, becoming more intent on having my attention, he stood up with his arm pumping emphatically. When I returned to him & asked what I could help him with, he said "Just look at it!", so I did. I told him that I thought it looked great, & he said "Yes, I know!" (& That's why I teach!)
If you would like to join one of my Classes or Workshops, or if you would like me to come to your Community to conduct a Workshop or Artist Residency, you can send an E-mail to me at
